A homemade legacy.
Our founder, G. Jim Hasslocher, began his legendary restaurant career in 1947 offering sliced, ice-cold watermelon at his bicycle rental stand near San Antonio's Brackenridge Park. During the next seven decades, his dedication to freshness never wavered. Today at every Jim's Restaurant, we prepare our home style fare using only the freshest produce and ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible. For freshly prepared, made-from-scratch home cooking, There's Always Jim's.
Prepared fresh from scratch, never pre-made or frozen. Throughout the day in every restaurant, someone is mixing ingredients by hand and rolling, cutting and baking biscuits.
These are the same special recipes Texans have been enjoying at Jim’s for more than 40 years. Blended locally to our exacting standards using the freshest ingredients.
Fresh, whole potatoes are peeled, cooked and mashed right in the restaurants 2 to 3 times a day. No potato flakes, mixes or frozen product.
Our fresh farm eggs come from Flatonia, Texas. We crack them and prepare to order. No pre-mixed egg products (except for our cholesterol-free egg substitute.)
All ingredients are chopped and shredded by hand in the kitchen from garden fresh produce. We source locally whenever possible. Even our croutons are made from scratch.
Prepared to order the old fashioned way using hand dipped real ice cream and hand spun in our milkshake blenders. No premixed frozen product from a machine.
We use fresh, sliced onions and hand bread them to order. We never use a frozen product.
Prepared daily from scratch at every restaurant using the freshest ingredients from our own recipes. Nothing comes from a can.
Sourced from Vernon, Texas, our hardwood hickory-smoked bacon is baked in our oven for 7 minutes to remove water and then grilled to crispy perfection. We never use a precooked, heat and serve product.
We’re proud to partner with many San Antonio and Texas based suppliers to provide our guests with the freshest, locally sourced products. Some of these relationships have flourished since we opened our first restaurant back in the late 1940s. San Antonio’s own Bolner’s Fiesta Spices is our source for regional and international spices and other specialty ingredients. They have also helped us develop many of our signature recipes. ButterKrust, now a member of the Flowers Baking family, has supplied our Texas toast and many other baked goods since the restaurants began. Oak Farms has been providing our fresh dairy products for over five decades. DeCoty Coffee of San Angelo has been roasting and grinding Jim’s famous coffee for more than 40 years. Our produce partner is Fernandez Brothers Produce. Along with sourcing fresh produce from around the state and nation, they also grow crops on their own farms in Hondo and Uvalde. Many of the baked good mixes, gravies and batters for Jim's Restaurants were developed in partnership with Pioneer Foods/C.H. Guenther and Son, Inc. of San Antonio.
